St. Mary’s is one of the oldest religious buildings in Florida still in continuous use for religious services. A Gothic Revival structure on its original site, with the building constructed in 1883.

The Heritage Preservation Trust was established in 2006 by concerned citizens to help preserve the architectural and historical heritage of the Volusia County area and is a 501 (c3) non-profit Corporation. We now have over 200 members.

Many lovely homes and historical sites have already been destroyed because they are not protected by a local historical overlay and proper zoning.

Historic properties are an important part of our culture and provide a positive economic and social impact on communities. Residents in our historic neighborhoods are working hard to stabilize and improve their properties and need everyone's help.

    Push for Daytona Beach Historic preservation ordinance
  • Application for new historic district in Daytona
  • Help in the Daytona Beach Visioning Plan reorganization with hundreds of signatures on petition and attendance at meeting
  • Support of various historic activities and projects, including the reconstruction plans for Yacht Club in Allandale, Ponce Inlet preservation group, Halifax Historical Museum, and other projects in county
  • Fundraisers: Lilian Place, Christmas Gala, Art Show, Ghost Walk, Touch of History luncheon
  • Educational programs at Lilian Place, Anderson Home, August 7,  Villa,  Lofts 747, and other historical sites
  • Assorted speakers on historical preservation
  •  Compilation of ordinances and grant data available to public/webpage development
  • Grant applications for preservation education forums

The Trust is a member of the Florida Historical Society.
